Me olemme – valokuvanäyttely sateenkaari-ihmisyyden moninaisuudesta ja yksilöllisyydestä 

Valokuvauksessa minulle on tärkeää se, että kuvaustilanne on turvallinen kaikille kuvattaville. Sateenkaari-ihmisiin kohdistuu jatkuvasti yhteiskunnassamme olemassa olon oikeutuksen kyseenalaistamista, syrjintää ja väkivallan uhkaa. Me olemme – We are -valokuvanäyttelyn kuvaukset toteutin niin, että jokainen kuvattava sai itse määritellä miten ja missä häntä tai heitä kuvataan. Kuvaustilanteet olivat vastavuoroisia ja keskustelevia. Kuvattavilla oli vapaus olla omassa tilassaan. En myöskään valinnut kuvia näyttelyä varten vaan jokainen sai itse valita mieleisensä kuvat. 

Kuvillani haluan nostaa esiin sen, että
me olemme olemassa.
Olemme aina olleet olemassa.
Tulemme aina olemaan olemassa.

Kaikesta syrjinnästä ja epätasa-arvoisesta kohtelusta huolimatta olemme, elämme ja hengitämme upeina omina itsenämme. Olemme toistemme valittua perhettä. Yhdessä saamme äänemme kuuluviin. Emme suostu vaikenemaan vaan haluamme yhdenvertaiset ja tasa-arvoiset ihmisoikeudet. Emme luovuta, vaikka kohtaamme häirintää ja uhkaa, vaan toimimme yhdessä tavoitettamme kohti.

Valokuvanäyttelyni on sateenkaari-ihmiseltä sateenkaari-ihmisille. Se on rakkauden osoitus valitulle perheelle.

We are – A photo exhibition about the diversity and individuality of the LGBTQIA+ community

There’s a constant undermining of the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community as well discrimination and violence. As a photographer it’s very important to me to make the photo shoots as safe as possible for everyone involved in the progress. The pictures in the exhibition have been executed in a way that everyone involved had the right to choose how and where they are portrayed. The photo shoots were mutual and communicative. Everyone had the right for their own space. I also didn’t choose the photographs for the exhibition, rather gave the opportunity to the photographed to choose their favourite ones.

With the photographs I want to say that:
We are here and exist.
We have always been existing.
We will always exist.

Despite all of the discrimination and inequality, we are existing, living, breathing. We are a chosen family to each other. Together we will make our voices heard. We will not be silenced, but we want equal human rights. We will not give up despite we face harassment and danger daily, we will rather act together towards our goals.

This exhibition is from a LGBTQIA+ person to another LGBTQIA+ person. It is a manifestation of love to the chosen family.
